The Main Traffic Safety Directorate is going to introduce licensing for the transportation of passengers in taxis. Deputy head of the directorate Ymanaly Sarkulov announced at a press conference.
According to him, taxi drivers currently work based on a voluntary license. However, they do not bear any responsibility.
«We are planning to introduce licensing of passenger taxis. All major resonant traffic accidents occur on roads of international and republican significance. Many taxi drivers transport passengers in their passenger car without a license. A voluntary license issued by the Tax Service does not imply any obligation on the part of the carrier. With the introduction of the license, the responsibility of carriers will increase, and there will be state control. We develop licensing rules, they will be approved by the decision of the Cabinet,» Ymanaly Sarkulov said.
The deputy chief of the Main Traffic Safety Directorate noted that the opinion of the carriers themselves would be taken into account when adopting the bill on licensing of taxi drivers.
