National Statistical Committee: Most of crimes committed by men

More than 24,000 people were identified in 2020 who have committed crimes and misconduct in Kyrgyzstan. This is 20 percent more than in 2019. Report of the National Statistical Committee says.

In general, more crimes were registered last year compared to the past few years.

According to the committee, over the past five years, the largest number of crimes was registered in 2020, but the reason is not named. About 83 percent of registered crimes and misconduct were committed by men, just over 17 percent — by women. Most of all the law was violated by persons at the age of 29 and older (68.1 percent of the total). They are followed by persons aged 18-24 (over 15 percent). More than 12 percent of crimes and misconduct were committed by 25-28-year-olds, while the share of offenders in the 14-17 age group was more than 4 percent in general.

The most widespread among the women, who have violated the law, are hooliganism (26 percent), theft (20), and fraud (13). Men, on the other hand, most often committed theft (about 23 percent) and hooliganism (16).
