Kyrgyzstan in talks with five countries over construction of Kambar-Ata-1

Kyrgyzstan will begin construction of Kambar-Ata-1 next year. The Energy Minister Doskul Bekmurzaev announced live on Azattyk.

According to him, many countries are interested in participation in major energy projects in Kyrgyzstan.

«Our large projects are in great demand right now. Many people who are convinced of Sadyr Japarov’s policy express their readiness. We are negotiating the construction of Kambar-Ata-1 not only with Uzbekistan, but also with Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The feasibility study of the project was sent to Uzbekistan, and tomorrow I will go to Tashkent to discuss it. We will start working with whoever comes first and starts building,» the minister said.

According to Doskul Bekmurzaev, construction of the hydroelectric power station will begin next year.

«If we don’t come to an agreement with the investor, we will start it ourselves as a national project. First, we will build the appropriate infrastructure,» the official said.
