Border conflict. Evacuees provided with humanitarian assistance

A total of 455 residents were evacuated from Ak-Sai village of Kyrgyzstan. The Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan reports.

There are 156 women and 285 children among the evacuees. The majority of them stayed with their relatives in Batken, others are accommodated in social institutions: lyceum 57 and school 3.

«On March 14, at the request of the local administration, representative office of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan in Batken provided bread and hot meals for 100 people placed at lyceum 57 and 30 people accommodated in other families. All evacuees are under stress. The teams of the Red Crescent volunteers provide psychological support to children. On March 15, its employees together with volunteers visited children at evacuation points. In addition, food was delivered to 200 residents of Ak-Sai village,» the organization reported.

According to the Red Crescent Society, the roads in the conflict zone are still blocked. Access to traffic is restricted, making the work of emergency services difficult.

A conflict occurred in Ak-Sai village in Batken region on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border on March 13. According to preliminary data, citizens of Tajikistan wanted to prevent construction of Ak-Sai — Tamdyk road. Kyrgyz border guards prevented this. People started throwing stones at each other. There are victims from both states.
