Delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan hold regular negotiations on border

Delegations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held regular negotiations on the border. Office of the Presidential Envoy to Batken region reported.

The parties discussed the situation in the border areas of the two countries.

The meeting was held in Khistevarz village, Bobojon-Gafurov district of the Republic of Tajikistan. Tajikistan was represented by the head of Sughd region, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, and Kyrgyzstan — by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President Abdukarim Alimbaev.

The parties recognize that all territorial disputes can and should be resolved only through negotiations in the presence of full mutual understanding. A plan of joint measures has been developed and adopted to build confidence, regulate cross-border issues and prevent actions leading to a deterioration in relations between the citizens of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

It was decided to step up explanatory work among the local population.
