The mission’s visit will last until March 19, 2019. Representatives of IMF came to the republic for consultations. During the visit, meetings with representatives of the government, the National Bank and other organizations will be held.

It is known that the meeting with the head of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic Tolkunbek Abdygulov has already taken place. The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation. In addition, IMF representatives met with management of a number of commercial banks.

In 2015-2018, Kyrgyzstan and IMF cooperated within the framework of an agreement on a three-year economic program — Extended Credit Facility (ECF). Its goal was to achieve sustainability of the budget and debt situation, to ensure stability in the financial sector and carry out structural reforms to increase the growth potential of the economy.

Under the program, the Kyrgyz Republic received a loan to support the state budget of the country within three years. The program was completed on April 8, 2018. A new program has not been announced yet.
