Kyrgyzstan ratifies UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted on December 13, 2006 and signed on September 21, 2011. Press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Parliament adopted the law on ratification on February 7, 2019.

The goal of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by persons with disabilities.

Kyrgyzstan joined the Convention on September 21, 2011 within the framework of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, expressing its intention to take the necessary measures for its implementation.

«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic should submit a letter of ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the depositary, who is the UN Secretary-General,» the press service reported.

The law will come into force ten days after its official publication.
