Customs officers reveal 1,600 customs offenses in 2018

In 2018, the units of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan have revealed 1,601 customs offences facts. The First Deputy Chairman of the service, Shamil Berdaliev, told reporters.

According to him, 1,361 administrative cases were initiated, which is 15.4 percent, or 182 facts, more than in 2017. At least 140.3 million soms were transferred to the budget on the cases, and 8.5 million soms in fines were collected.

In addition, 240 materials were detected and sent to other bodies, 149 criminal cases were initiated on them. The budget received 89.4 million soms as a compensation for damage. Compared with 2017, the figure increased by 67.4 percent, or 36.1 million soms.

At least 217 administrative and 81 criminal cases were initiated on the illegal import of goods into the EEU from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, 426 and 25 — on the border with China.

«Last year, there were sound facts of the illegal import of poultry meat, false transits and the import of X iPhones, which were just presented in the U.S. and not officially supplied to our market. In addition, almost every week we detect vehicles that were imported to Kyrgyzstan without payment of customs duties and illegally registered,» Shamil Berdaliev stressed.
