Immigrants from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan charged with terrorism in Sweden

The Prosecutor’s Office of Sweden has filed charges against immigrants from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan within a terrorism case. RIA Novosti reported.

Three suspects are charged with preparing a terrorist crime with the purchase of large quantities of chemicals and separate equipment. All six detainees are also charged with violation of the law on the financing of especially grave crimes, in particular, of sending money to the Islamic State.

Prosecutors’ statement for the press says that the crimes were committed in the vicinity of Stockholm and the city of Stromsund. The suspected deny their guilt.

Five of the six defendants are under arrest. The trial will begin on January 7.

As the Swedish media reported earlier, from April to October 2018, the police detained a total of five people within the case — people from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. At least one of them contacted Rakhmat Akilov, who was sentenced to life in prison in Sweden for the terrorist attack in the center of Stockholm in 2017.
