The former head of the State Customs Service, Adamkul Zhunusov, will be convoyed from Baku to Bishkek till the end of the year. The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest to the former official of Kyrgyzstan, who was detained in Azerbaijan, in absentia.
«The decision on his extradition was made in accordance with the Chisinau Convention,» the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
Adamkul Zhunusov was detained in Baku in early December. A criminal case was initiated against him under article 304 (abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to investigators, he, holding the position of the head of the State Customs Service, organized a «stable corruption relationship with representatives of a company» and other customs officials. Damage is estimated at more than 166 million soms.
