Mayor of Karakol city Daniyar Arpachiev resigns

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev signed an order on dismissal of the mayor of Karakol city. The Government’s Executive Office informed 24.kg news agency.

It is specified that Daniyar Arpachiev wrote notice of resignation at his own request. Recall, on July 31, the deputies of Karakol City Council passed a non-confidence motion against the mayor at an extraordinary session. The agenda included only one question — resignation of the mayor. As a result, 30 out of 31 deputies voted for resignation.

Daniyar Arpachiev himself admitted that there was a confrontation between the mayor’s office and the deputies in the last six months. Before the session, the deputies offered Daniyar Arpachiev to write a letter of resignation at his own request. However, he refused. Now the former mayor of Karakol noted that he did not exclude political motives of the non-confidence vote from the deputies of the city council.

Daniyar Arpachiev became the second mayor, who lost his job due to non-confidence vote. Albek Ibraimov, the mayor of Bishkek, was dismissed earlier, and a criminal case on corruption was opened against him.
