Elections of the mayor of Karakol city are scheduled for October 12, 2018. Abdyzhapar Bekmatov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, informed 24.kg news agency.
«There is a process of nomination of candidates now. Factions of the city council and the prime minister have this right. After the nomination, the TEC will check the candidates’ data and register them. A candidate must win more than a half of the votes of deputies to become a mayor,» he said.
Karakol City Council has 31 deputies.
Recall, on September 19, 2018, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev signed a decree on dismissal Daniyar Arpachiev from the post of the mayor of Karakol on the basis of submitted notice of resignation.
