The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov kicked start of the project «Reconstruction of the Irrigation System of the Kyrgyz Republic» as part of his working visit to Issyk-Kul region. Presidential press office reported.
At least $ 32 million, allocated in the form of a grant by China for the construction of six water facilities, will be spent on the project.
The project provides for the reconstruction and construction of waterworks facilities in Issyk-Kul, Batken, Talas and Chui regions.
After the start of their operation, 5,410 hectares of new irrigated lands will be introduced, water supply at 22,100 hectares will be increased, the press service informed.
The project will create jobs for 40,000 rural residents throughout the country.
The head of state got acquainted with the project on reconstruction of Ak-Olon canal in Ton district, which envisages the construction of a head water intake facility, 16.5 kilometers of the main and 11.2 kilometers of intrafarm canals.
The project at the cost of 500 million soms is planned to be completed by 2021.
