A delegation of the Kyrgyz government led by the Prime Minister Sapar Isakov was welcomed at Dostuk-Avtodorozhniy checkpoint.
The governor of Andijan region Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov welcomed the head of the Kyrgyz government at the border.
Sapar Isakov will take part today in the first meeting of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov will head the Uzbek delegation.
The Council was established in accordance with the memorandum of understanding between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the creation of a Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the border areas and hokims of the border regions of Uzbekistan, signed in Bishkek during the state visit of the Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 5-6, 2017, to develop contacts at the interregional level and expand cooperation between the border regions of the two countries.
At the first meeting of the council, sides plan to discuss issues of development of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
