Kyrgyzstan improves indicators in Corruption Perceptions Index

Over the past four years, Kyrgyzstan has been able to improve its indicators by 41 points in the Corruption Perceptions Index. Starting from the 164th position, Kyrgyzstan took 123rd place in 2015, having scored 28 points. This was stated by Damir Sagynbaev, Head of the Department of Defense, Law, Order and Emergency Situations of the Government’s executive office of the Kyrgyz Republic during the official launch of the project «Strengthening Measures to Prevent and Counteract Corruption in Kyrgyzstan

According to him, since gaining its sovereignty, Kyrgyzstan has managed to build a market economy with a favorable investment climate and a stable socio-political environment. But, like any state, the country has faced various negative phenomena, including corruption, which contributes to the spread of many types of crimes, especially in the sphere of economy, taxation and customs activities.

«The country continues to work in this direction, and the system of law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic that is implemented today will begin to bring its positive results in the near future," he said.

Damir Sagynbaev added that anti-corruption expertise methods that meet modern international standards are being currently actively developed and implemented, and advocacy for preventing corruption will be also strengthened.
