A deputy has announced the need to build a new waste landfill in Chui region. Mederbek Sakkaraev made this statement at a meeting of the Zhogorku Kenesh.
According to him, the current landfill in the village of Iskra in Chui region has almost exhausted its capacity, as it is 90 percent full.
«It occupies 2.9 hectares. However, it is located on a windy side, and if a fire breaks out, it can spread quickly, posing a threat to the population and the environment of the region.
Therefore, a number of measures must be taken—either building a waste processing plant or finding land for a new landfill that meets all environmental standards,» Mederbek Sakkaraev added.
