On April 21, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a preventive measure against activist Tilekmat Kurenov, who was previously extradited to Kyrgyzstan.
According to the court’s press service, the petition of the senior investigator of the State Committee for National Security was granted and Tilekmat Kurenov was remanded in custody until May 19, 2025.
The activist is suspected of committing a crime under Article 327 (public calls for violent seizure of power) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On April 19, the State Committee for National Security reported that the wanted activist Tilekmat Kurenov was brought to Bishkek from the UAE. According to the security service, the activist, while being outside the republic, regularly published provocative posts and video messages through social media accounts calling for the organization of mass riots with a subsequent attempt to violently seize power.
