After a long period of unusually warm and dry days, a sharp change in weather is expected in Kyrgyzstan on March 24 — 26. The 112 emergency service reported.
The forecast predicts a drop in air temperature, intermittent rain and thunderstorms, snowfall in mountainous areas, and icy roads in high-altitude areas. Westward winds may strengthen to 15-20 meters per second.
This weather is expected to worsen road conditions, complicate livestock grazing on remote pastures, the work of motor transport, communications companies, energy and public utilities.
Due to heavy rainfall, mudflows are possible in the foothill areas of Chui, Talas, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, and river water levels are expected to rise. The Ministry of Emergency Situations advises clearing drainage and water pipes to prevent flooding.
Additionally, until March 23, avalanches, snowdrifts, and icy conditions are expected in mountainous areas and on Bishkek—Osh (Too-Ashuu and Ala-Bel passes) and Karakol—Enilchek (Chon-Ashuu pass) roads.
Drivers are urged to keep a distance between vehicles when traveling through avalanche-prone areas.
