Minister of Energy and Mayor of Bishkek visit HPP

The Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev and the Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Dzhunushaliev got acquainted with the preparation of the capital’s heating and power plant (HPP) for the autumn-winter period of 2024-2025. The press service of the municipality reported.

In particular, the officials got acquainted with the electrostatic precipitators, milling equipment and pumps of the new power units.

«Currently, the personnel of the Bishkek HPP and TBEA are conducting a supervised test of power unit No. 3. Its major repairs began in June, and in a short time, through the joint efforts of the HPP and TBEA employees, it was possible to complete it,» the City Hall noted.

After the supervised test, the turbo unit must stand under voltage for a certain time and only after successful completion, the power unit will be put into operation.

The municipality added that since 2017, during the operation of the power units, they have not undergone major repairs.

«The units bear a large thermal and electrical load, especially during the heating season, in connection with which there was a decrease in the installed design capacity from 300 to 210 megawatts, which affects the generation of electricity. As part of the ongoing major repairs, an increase in capacity to the design (300 megawatts) is expected,» the press service emphasized and reported that unit No. 4 would be put into operation in November.
