Trade between Kyrgyzstan and Russia increased by 13 percent — Mishustin

Trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by 13 percent in the first six months of 2024. The Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Yerevan.

«We highly value friendly and fraternal relations with Kyrgyzstan and are interested in expanding our trade and economic cooperation. In January-July, our mutual trade turnover increased by 13 percent,» he said.

The head of the Russian government proposed accelerating the launch of joint projects in the fields of transport, logistics, industrial, rural cooperation, and the digital economy.

«I would like to note the useful work of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. More than 3,500 projects have been financed, and new proposals are being developed. It is important to give a new impetus to the work of this fund,» he added.

In turn, Akylbek Japarov stated that Russia-Kyrgyzstan relations are at the highest level. He thanked for awarding him the Russian Order of Friendship and noted that this award is a symbol of strong ties between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

«I consider this as a manifestation of high respect for the multinational people of the Kyrgyz Republic, as recognition of the established relations of strategic partnership and alliance between our countries,» the head of the Cabinet said.

According to him, President Sadyr Japarov plans to take part in the next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Moscow on October 7-8 and BRICS summit in Kazan on October 23-25.
