Associate of organized crime group member detained in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Law enforcement officers detained a 40-year-old man in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was wanted by Interpol, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Law enforcement officers reported that he was registered as an active member of Karyshkyr’s organized crime group.

The wanted man was detained by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan together with their colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 6. He is suspected of illegally acquiring and storing ammunition, explosives and explosive devices. In addition, being an active member of the organized crime group of Mursalym Umurzakov, nicknamed Karyshkyr, he served as a so-called «mafia enforcer» in Moscow and Moscow Oblast and extorted large sums of money from his compatriots.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that in 2015 the man was detained in Moscow on suspicion of extortion, but latter he managed to obtain Russian citizenship and avoid extradition to Kyrgyzstan. As of today, the relevant information has been sent to the authorized bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic to resolve the issue of extradition of the detainee to Kyrgyzstan.
