The government of Kyrgyzstan will soon sign an investment agreement on the construction of a new international airport in Jalal-Abad region, the investments will amount to $1.2 billion. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov reported.
According to him, this decision is a continuation of the program for the development of regional aviation, within the framework of which the airports in Karakol, Kazarman, Kerben, Talas and Naryn were reconstructed using funds of Manas Airport OJSC.
«Now we have the opportunity to open new regional airports in the country. The issue of building a new international airport in Jalal-Abad region is also being worked out. The President has set the task for the Cabinet of Ministers to modernize Manas and Osh airports and build a new airport in Jalal-Abad region. In the coming days, we will start the procedure of signing the investment agreement. The volume of expected investments is $1.2 billion,» the head of the Cabinet said.
It is expected that upgrading of the airports will increase the number of flights and expand the geography of flights, which will have a positive impact on the economic and tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan.
