Men illegally mining gold at Nichkesu field detained in Batken

Four citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been detained for stealing gold ore from Nichkesu field in Batken region. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reported.

«The investigators found out that some citizens, encroaching on the subsoil of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is its exclusive property, secretly stole gold placers on an especially large scale from April to the end of July 2024 for their further processing using artisanal methods. A criminal case has been opened under the article «Theft on an especially large scale» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the statement says.

The security services also found the place where gold ore was excavated. Their depth ranged from two to five meters, width — three meters, length — 57 meters. By the decision of the Batken District Court, the detainees were placed in a pre-trial detention center. The investigators establish the identities of possible accomplices.
