Ceremony of unveiling the monument to the People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, film director Gennady Bazarov, took place today at Ala-Archa cemetery.
The authors of the memorial are designer Emil Tilekov and sculptor Tamila Mamatova.
The name of Gennady Bazarov is known not only to Kyrgyzstanis — the films shot by the master of national cinema are loved by viewers in many countries. He is one of the founders of auteur Kyrgyz cinema. In 2022, he was awarded the State Order of Manas of II degree.
His films «Mother’s Field», «Ambush», «Apple of the Eye» and others are forever inscribed in the country’s film chronicle.
Gennady Bazarov died on February 6, 2023.
