Members of criminal group planning coup detained in Kyrgyzstan

Security officers detained five citizens, who were planning violent seizure of power using weapons and homemade explosives. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reported.

«The illegal activities of a destructive group that had plans to forcibly seize power and destabilize the socio-political situation in the country through mass riots that could potentially harm innocent citizens were suppressed. Five citizens were detained and placed in the temporary detention center of the SCNS,» the statement says.

The group is formed from individuals who support the ideology of criminality, as well as fanatically professing religious ideology. During a search of their homes and cars, components for improvised explosive devices, firearms, ammunition, walkie-talkies, body armor, law enforcement uniforms, UAVs, extremist literature and other prohibited items were found.

Further investigative and operational measures are carried out to identify other persons involved.
