The death toll as a result of mudflows in Nookat district of Osh region has increased to eight people. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to the ministry, the body of another woman, swept away by a mudflow, was found in the evening of June 29. The deceased is being identified.
Thus, the number of victims of the natural disaster that occurred in Nookat district on June 28 has reached eight people. Most of them are teenagers. Two of them were 11 years old, the others were 8, 12, 16 and 19 years old. Two women are also among the killed. According to some media reports, most of the victims are relatives.
«The information is being clarified. Additional information will be provided later,» the press service noted.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, there are minor citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan among the killed.
Mudflows occurred in Nookat district of Osh region on June 28, leading to the death of people. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards and damaged bridges, roads and power lines. An emergency situation has been declared in the district.
