President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov expressed condolences to the relatives of those killed as a result of mudflows in Nookat district of Osh region.
He told that he received the news of human casualties as a result of the disaster with a sore heart.
«More than a thousand of our citizens, who found themselves in the mountains due to an unforeseen situation, were rescued. It is worth noting that the relevant ministry and local authorities made every effort from the first minutes. Currently, work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. I would also like to express my gratitude to our citizens who took an active part in a timely manner and helped rescuers transport the victims. This once again proves the cohesion and solidarity of our nation,» Sadyr Japarov said.
He stressed that all victims will be provided with assistance. «The state will definitely take care of them and will not leave them in trouble,» the head of state concluded.
A destructive mudflow occurred in Nookat district of Osh region at approximately 4.10 p.m. on June 28. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards, damaging several bridges and roads. Casualties were reported.
