Clandestine workshop producing counterfeit alcohol found in Bishkek

A clandestine workshop for the production of alcohol and alcohol-containing drinks was detected in Bishkek. The press service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek reported.

According to it, counterfeit products were sold in one of the capital’s markets and distributed throughout the regions.

The illegally working workshop evaded taxes, including VAT, sales tax, excise tax and other payments. Investigative officers of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek identified the owners and tenants of the workshop.

During the search, more than 10,000 pieces of alcoholic beverages of various brands and over 20,000 pieces of cigarettes and equipment were revealed. The amount of seized products exceeded 10 million soms.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact under Article 240 «Illegal production of alcohol and alcohol-containing beverages» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is ongoing. Investigative measures are being carried out aimed at giving a legal assessment to the actions of people involved.
