President promises vendors to raise tax-free rate to 15 million soms

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with vendors at Dordoi market and promised them to raise the tax-free regime threshold to 15 million soms.

«If the trade turnover does not reach 8 million soms, then sellers will not pay a single som. There is no need to take a license and submit a report. But the turnover of many people is more than 8 million, I propose to increase this rate to 15 million and not take licenses. You take a license for 4,000-5,000 soms, it is 50,000-60,000 for a year. We say to abolish this too so that the poor to get rich and the rich to pay taxes,» he said.

The head of state also clarified who, in his opinion, is behind the rallies and is using entrepreneurs to destabilize the situation.

«When I said that I know who is behind you, you shout: there is no one. You don’t know. Those who made three revolutions in 30 years and today want this, they are using you. These are just some of the forces. I understand you, you hold protest only for yourself, I don’t blame you. You must go out and defend your rights. If your voices are not being heard, you must make it known through rallies and protests. We have all the information that there are three or four groups that want to take advantage of this,» Sadyr Japarov said.

Vendors at markets have been protesting for a week. Entrepreneurs from Osh market, Dordoi Motors and flower shop owners held protests today. They have the same requirements — to allow use of licenses for trade and to abolish mandatory use of cash registers.

The President gave them a six-month deferment — until July 2024.
