«We believe that the som to dollar exchange rate will remain near the current values of 88-89,» Aigul Berdigulova, Senior Analyst at the Country Analysis Center of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, stabilization of financial markets in the countries - trading partners and export growth will support the exchange rate. Export has become more active in the last few months.
Economist Azamat Akeneyev agrees with the EDB expert. He notes that the external pressure on Kyrgyz som has slightly weakened due to the strengthening of the ruble.
«In general, in recent years, the National Bank has such a policy — not to allow sharp fluctuations. Therefore, I do not think that something will happen to the som in December. Unless there are some completely unforeseen circumstances. I think that in December and in the near future there are no preconditions for its strong changes both upward and downward,» Azamat Akeneyev commented on the situation to 24.kg news agency.
It should be noted that the dollar has slightly appreciated today. Most commercial banks and exchange offices in the capital set its buying rate at 89 soms, which is 20-30 tyiyns higher than yesterday’s rate. The selling rate remained almost unchanged at 89.5-89.7 soms. The nominal U.S. dollar exchange rate was set by the National Bank at 89.1643 soms.
