Permit for construction of mosque illegally issued in Barpy

A criminal case was opened on the illegal issuance of permits for the construction of a mosque in Jalal-Abad region. The press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported.

At the end of 2022, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic built a mosque in Barpy village, Suzak district in the courtyard of his house without permits. In March 2023, an interdepartmental working commission created at the initiative of the SCNS to check the legality of the work of religious institutions in Jalal-Abad region stopped the activities of the mosque and imposed a fine of 7,500 soms.

«The citizen, having collected signatures from residents of other villages, with the active assistance of the head of the rural administration of Barpy, the kazyat of Jalal-Abad region, Suzak branch of Cadastre obtained permits. Facts of visits by representatives of religious movements prohibited by law were registered in this mosque,» the state committee noted.

A criminal case was opened under Article 337 «Abuse of official position» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, within the framework of which a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the head of the rural administration of Barpy, the heads of Suzak branch of Cadastre, the kazy of Jalal-Abad region and the State Commission for Religious Affairs. The issued registration certificate will be canceled, and the mosque will be repurposed as a social facility (a medical aid station or a state pharmacy) for the needs of the residents of Barpy village.
