Deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan supported amendments to the law on the prosecutor’s office and the Criminal Procedure Code initiated by the President Sadyr Japarov without discussion in the first reading.
The speaker was the Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev. He noted that the document was developed in order to bring certain norms into compliance with the Constitution and other legislative acts, eliminate contradictions, and also improve some provisions taking into account law enforcement practice.
Among the innovations, the law states that persons not younger than 30 years old and with at least five years of service as a prosecutor or investigator in the prosecutor’s office shall be appointed to the positions of deputy prosecutors of regions, Bishkek and Osh, military prosecutor and military prosecutor of the garrison, as well as heads of structural subdivisions of the prosecutor’s offices of regions, Bishkek and Osh, and the Military Prosecutor’s Office.
Attestation of employees is carried out by the Higher Attestation and Competition Commission of the Prosecutor General’s Office and attestation commissions of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor’s offices of regions, Bishkek and Osh.
The initiative to support the draft without discussion was voiced by a deputy Akylbek Tumonbaev.
As a result of voting, 76 MPs voted for the amendments, none against. A total of 79 parliament members were registered.
