Bishkek City Hall has switched all its boiler houses, which serve social facilities, to gas. The mayor of the city Emilbek Abdykadyrov told journalists.
In total, the municipality spent 47 million soms on modernization of 22 boiler houses. Although initially, according to calculations, more than 400 million soms could be spent on it.
«We contacted directly the manufacturing plants, which saved a lot of budget funds,» the official said.
The conversion of boiler houses to gas will help to improve the smog situation in Bishkek. Emilbek Abdykadyrov noted that residents often accuse the authorities of thinking about smog only when it appears in winter. «But we are seriously engaged in the fight against smog in summer as well,» he said.
