Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and experts of the International Business Council (IBC) discussed problematic issues of the mining industry. The press service of IBC reported.
Representatives of the IBC voiced at the meeting with the head of the Cabinet such problematic issues of the industry as a ban on the export of gold-containing ores and concentrates, onerous financial burden of subsoil users, high rates of fees for license retention from October 2021 to August 2022, state participation in the industry, interference of law enforcement agencies in the activities of enterprises, payment for electricity.
«The meeting was productive. We voiced a whole list of questions prepared by members and experts of the IBC Committee on Mineral Resources. Akylbek Usenbekovich confirmed that these issues also bother the government, the problem is quite acute and it is necessary to take a more active position in addressing the issues of the industry,» Askar Sydykov, IBC Executive Director, said.
He also noted that during the meeting the relevant bodies were given instructions to address the issues discussed. The issue of the lack of a development strategy for the mining industry was also discussed.
«This strategy with a step-by-step plan of measures, taking into account the periods of construction and production activity of each significant mining enterprise, the program of development of small deposits is needed as a basis for the creation of the Mining Code of Kyrgyzstan. The meeting resulted in mutual understanding with the government on many issues. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers agreed that problematic issues need to be addressed as soon as possible, and the government will take all necessary measures to resolve them,» Askar Sydykov concluded.
