Inflow of remittances to Kyrgyzstan decreases by $17.6 million for month

In July 2023, migrants transferred $145.9 million to Kyrgyzstan, which is $17.6 million less than a month earlier. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan provided such data.

Compared to July 2022, the figure decreased 1.8 times, or by $124.7 million. Russia accounts for most of the remittances— $132.2 million. At least $6 million was transferred to Kyrgyzstan from other states, $4.5 million — from the USA. In total, in January — July 2023, compatriots transferred $1,107.3 billion to the country. This is 31.5 percent, or $510.8 million, less than in the past.

According to the results of July, there was also an outflow of funds of $30 million. The figure decreased by $2.4 million for a month. Compared to July 2022, the figure decreased 3.8 times by $83.8 million. The main part of the money was transferred to Russia ($28.3 million). For seven months of 2023, $286.8 million were transferred from the republic, which is $188.8 million less than in 2022.

The net inflow of remittances in January — July 2023 to Kyrgyzstan is estimated at $820.5 million. This is $322.1 million or 28.2 percent less than in the first six months of the last year.

At year-end 2022, the volume of money transfers to the country amounted to $2,928.2 billion. At least $1,200.7 billion were transferred from the Kyrgyz Republic to other states. Net inflow is $1,727.5 billion.
