The event will become part of the International Festival «Kyrgyzstan — Russia: Common Cultural Heritage.»

The exposition will present selected works of the Russian photographer and inventor, some of which were made on the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan. The writer Vladimir Mikhailov-Lidsky will tell visitors about the creative fate of the author of the unique photographs.

Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky is a Russian photographer, chemist, inventor, publisher, teacher and public figure, a member of the Imperial Russian Geographic, Russian Technical and Russian Photographic Societies. He made a significant contribution to the development of photography and cinematography. He is a pioneer of color photography in Russia.

The uniqueness of the shooting is that the photographer took three consecutive shots using blue, green and red filters, and then superimposed them on top of each other. Three images were projected onto each other, resulting in a color image.

Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky took hundreds of photographs during his stay in Central Asia. They gained wide popularity only in 2002, when they were restored by the Library of Congress of the USA.
