«Let it be a lesson for the rest of my relatives,» the President of Kyrgyzstan told reporters, commenting on the detention of his nephew on charges of corruption.
According to Sadyr Japarov, there are no insiders and outsiders in the fight against corruption. All those convicted of violation of the laws will be held accountable, regardless of the degree of kinship with the first persons of the state.
«It is a different time now. If you are involved in corruption, you will be arrested. You will be released, if you compensate the damage caused to the state in double size. Otherwise, you will be in prison. If I intervene and say not to arrest this brother, then the others will also start breaking the law. The Kyrgyz have a good saying: «One punishment is a lesson for thousands,» the head of state explained.
Recall, the president’s nephew Ulan Japarov is charged with corruption. The case is being investigated by the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Ulan Japarov is the son of Rakymzhan Japarov, the cousin of Sadyr Japarov.
