President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Kyrgyzstan Nicholas Bowler.
The head of state accepted credentials from the ambassador and congratulated him on the start of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan. Sadyr Japarov confirmed his readiness for active cooperation with the UK, stressing that last year the countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Sadyr Japarov noted the importance of intensifying bilateral political dialogue and building up trade and economic ties. The head of state said that Kyrgyzstan was included in the new UK trade scheme for the developing countries, and that the Kyrgyz side would continue to use the benefits of the EU GSP+ system of preferences to export its products to the UK.
«Kyrgyzstan has sufficient opportunities to develop renewable energy sources and enhance cooperation in such areas as green economy, climate change, tourism, digital and creative economy,» the head of state said.
Nicholas Bowler noted that one of the successful joint projects to date is the program of employment for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic at agricultural enterprises in the UK for seasonal work, and that about 8,000 Kyrgyzstanis plan to participate in it this year.
Nicholas Bowler stressed the importance of the recent visits of British officials, which testify to the mutual intention of the parties to further strengthen relations. The ambassador noted that the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Leo Docherty appreciated his visit to Kyrgyzstan in June this year.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for further development and strengthening of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Nicholas Bowler took up his appointment in June 2023. He had been working in Kyiv since 2020. He headed the Programs Department at the British Embassy.
