Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov took part in the grand opening of the new building of the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. Press service of the Cabinet reported.
Akylbek Japarov noted that the issues of ensuring regular monitoring are a priority due to increased seismic activity. «Most recently, the whole world witnessed the disastrous earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which claimed hundreds of human lives. Our country has repeatedly experienced earthquakes with a magnitude of 5-7 points, so we must always be on the alert,» he said.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers added that during the years of independence of the republic not a single building has been built for the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, moreover, no significant repairs were carried out in the buildings of the academy.
«I am sure that this project will become an example of a public-private partnership, where the government, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) and international donor organizations have united for the common good of the citizens of our country, ensuring their safety,» he concluded.
The two-story specialized building will be used as the headquarters of the institute and the research center and will allow to carry out full-fledged research work.
