The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted an internal investigation at the request of the deputies after the initiation of a criminal case against Keremet Bank. The head of the National Bank, Kubanychbek Bokontaev, said at a meeting of the Committee on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy of the Parliament.
According to him, materials of the investigation were sent to law enforcement agencies.
«An internal investigation was carried out in 2022 within the case on Rosinbank and Keremet Bank by order of the deputies. The materials were handed over to law enforcement agencies. An audit by the Accounts Chamber showed damage from the loss of investments of about 4.4 billion soms. We have not received an official response from law enforcement agencies, but, according to media reports, the perpetrators have been brought to justice, the investigation in relation to some individuals has been completed,» Kubanychbek Bokontaev told.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a criminal case under the articles «Money laundering», «Fraud» and «Forgery of documents» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Investigators of the supervisory authority detained the deputy chairman of the Board of the bank Maksat Dadybaev, two employees of the financial institution, as well as the director of the Bishkek branch. The deputy head of the Board was placed in the guardhouse of the capital’s garrison, the rest — in the remand center 1 in Bishkek. In February 2023, a criminal investigator of the security service of the State Committee for National Security was detained. Later it became known that two of the five defendants in Keremet Bank case compensated for damage in the amount of 2 million soms.
