Water shortage: City Hall asks Cabinet of Ministers for 100 million soms

To solve the issue of water shortage in Bishkek, 100 million soms and land plots in four areas are required. Deputy Marlen Mamataliev announced at a meeting of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, this follows from the letters of the Bishkek City Hall addressed to the Cabinet.

«The City Hall of the capital has been appealing to the Cabinet for two years. It asks to allocate plots and money for the construction of water intakes. Due to the fact that the government did not respond properly, the city is now experiencing a shortage of water. It turned out that 100 million soms and land in four areas are needed. We must allocate these funds,» Marlen Mamataliev said.

The deputy proposed to hold a meeting of the Committee on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy and approve the allocation of 100 million soms.

Recall, private saunas, car washes and swimming pools, which consume a large amount of water, were temporarily closed because of the lack of water in the capital. In addition, temporary restrictions have been imposed on the supply of drinking water to Archa-Beshik residential area and Selektsionnoye, 105th Kontur, Salkyn-Tor, Nizhny Orok, Sary-Ozon, Plodovoe and Kaltar villages. Raids are regularly held to prevent irrigation of the adjoining land plots and gardens with drinking water during the daytime.

Nighttime restrictions on the drinking water supply were imposed in the southern part of Bishkek.
