Mayor of Vladivostok Konstantin Shestakov met with the head of the Office of Embassy of Kyrgyzstan Rinat Isakov. The parties discussed the possibility of holding joint events, the city administration reports.
The Kyrgyz city of Osh may become twinned with Vladivostok.
Rinat Isakov also suggested to name one of the streets in Vladivostok after the People’s Writer of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aitmatov. His books have been translated into 174 languages of the world.
Other proposals made at the meeting included creation of a park of friendship with Kyrgyzstan, as well as holding a Week of Kyrgyz Cinema. The City Hall notes that all these issues need to be worked out. A place for the park will be selected in Vladivostok, which will be landscaped by the embassy workers, and a city street that can be named after Chingiz Aitmatov will be chosen.
