The Committee of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction considered amendments to the law of ex-deputy Gulshat Asylbaeva «On protection from inaccurate (false) information».
The Deputy Minister of Culture Chyngyz Esengul uulu said at the meeting that the ministry has considered 22 appeals since 2022.
«As a result, the activities of three media outlets were suspended for two months: this is Respublica.kg — there was a court decision; 24.kg news agency had to be closed for one day. We withdrew the blocking decision, as the applicant and the media agreed and wrote a refutation (24.kg news agency did not write any refutation and did not delete the news. — Note of 24.kg news agency); litigation continues on Azattyk,» he said.
The official noted that one appeal out of 22 was withdrawn by the applicant. Five materials of the media outlet were removed after the complaint. «Seven appeals were left without consideration, as they concerned social media. Work is underway on this issue. But we cannot shut down social media,» he explained.
Seven deputies of Parliament — Zhanar Akaev, Adakhan Madumarov, Elmurza Satybaldiev, Gulya Kozhokulova, Dastan Bekeshev, Seyid Atambaev and Chingiz Aidarbekov — initiate amendments to the Law of ex-deputy Gulshat Asylbaeva «On protection from inaccurate (false) information».
