The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) suppressed a corruption scheme at Irkeshtam-Avtodorozhny checkpoint. Employees of the Border Service and private firms were involved in it, the SCNS press center said.
«Employees of two firms, in collusion with officials of the Border Service, systematically engaged in illegal collection of money from drivers of heavy vehicles under the pretext of unhindered and unscheduled import of cargo through Irkeshtam-Avtodorozhny checkpoint. Drivers had to pay 1,000 soms for their inclusion in the queue, and $100 — for using cranes to reload shipping containers,» the statement says.
According to the SCNS, elimination of the illegal scheme made it possible to increase cargo traffic, reduce the cost of transportation and remove artificial barriers for cargo carriers. As a result of tax audits, the state was compensated for damage in the amount of 14 million soms.
The investigation continues.
