Run the Silk Road 2023 International Marathon to be held in Issyk-Kul on May 13

Run the Silk Road 2023 International Marathon will be held on May 13 on the shore of Issyk-Kul lake. About 3,000 people will take part in it. Representatives of the directorate of the event announced at a press conference in Bishkek.

«A unique track, which runs at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level and is located on the northern shore, is prepared for the participants. The track is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. The race is licensed for the Olympic and Asian Games, the World Marathon Championship and has the label of the World Athletic Association. The marathon is held under the auspices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,» said Tilekmat Abdyrakhmanov, a representative of the directorate.

The start and finish of the marathon will take place on the territory of the hippodrome in Baktuu-Dolonotuu village. In addition to the absolute championship, divided by gender, the following age categories will be awarded at marathon and half marathon distances: 35-44 years old, 45-54 years old, 55-64 years old, 65 years and older. The category of persons with disabilities is taken into account and awarded at the distances of the marathon, half marathon, as well as 10 kilometers.

Distances:

  • Marathon — 42 kilometers 195 meters;
  • Half marathon — 21 kilometers 97 meters;
  • 10 km run;
  • 3 km run;
  • Nordic walking 10 kilometers and 3 kilometers.

The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Athletics Federation, Directorate of the International Marathon NGO with the support of the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic. The main judging panel is the Athletics Federation.
