Foreign Minister of Finland Pekka Haavisto signed an agreement in Brussels on the country’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The signing took place in the office of the mission of Finland to NATO in Brussels, opposite the NATO headquarters. The flags of NATO, Finland, the EU and a bouquet of white flowers were on the table.
Finland and Sweden officially applied for NATO membership in May last year. At the end of the year, they got approval from 28 out of 30 countries.
