The President of Kyrgyzstan held a working meeting, where a report on the production activities of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC for 2022 and plans for the near future were considered.
The head of the company, Almaz Baryktabasov, informed Sadyr Japarov about the environmental protection measures taken during the reporting period, as well as about the geological exploration and mining work carried out.
According to him, over 12 months of last year, Kumtor produced 17.3 tons of gold. Since the beginning of the year, the company has transferred taxes and mandatory payments in the amount of 32.1 billion soms with the plan of 30.1 billion.
Almaz Baryktabasov also told about plans to process waste in the tailings in order to extract gold using modern technologies. Waste in the tailings will be processed into a semi-dry harmless mixture.
From 2026, the extraction of gold from the secondary processing of the tailing dump will begin, it is planned to extract about 4.7 tons annually.
Full processing of tailings waste is planned to be completed by 2040. The total value of the gold extracted from the tailings is $3.5 billion.
Almaz Baryktabasov also informed about the project for the construction of a tire plant, the purpose of which is to process not only tires of mining dump trucks, but also used tires of cars and trucks in Kyrgyzstan.
He told about the project on construction of a lime plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, designed to cover the production needs of not only this enterprise, but also other mining and construction companies.
After listening to the information, Sadyr Japarov stressed that Kumtor is the largest gold mining enterprise that should work for the people of Kyrgyzstan, and accordingly, effective and rational management is required from the company’s management.
In addition, uninterrupted operation of the mine and stable functioning of all departments must be ensured. All production indicators must be executed according to the established plan.
The head of state focused on ensuring the transparent activities of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, eliminating manifestations of corruption, especially in such areas as the purchase of equipment and other necessary items.
