Korea to give Kyrgyzstan $27 million loan to improve Infectious Disease Hospital

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan takes a $27 million loan from Korea to improve the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital. The Deputy Minister of Health Tilek Mamadaliev announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.

Deputies discussed a draft agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Korea regarding a loan from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) for the project «Functional Improvement of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital».

The deputy minister noted that the Republican Clinical Hospital is designed for 500 beds with an intensive care unit for 530 patients.

«To date, the hospital provides emergency care to patients who suffer from infectious pathologies, at the same time, both municipal and republican medical institutions are working. The building was built in the 1950s. After the growth of the city, the institution is unable to meet the needs. This leads to the growth of various diseases and the spread of infectious diseases. According to the agreement, the Export-Import Bank of Korea allocates $27 million to the Government of Kyrgyzstan in the form of a loan for 40 years,» Tilek Mamadaliev said.

The Deputy Minister noted that the money would be spent on the construction of an additional building for 130 beds, equipping it, creating a hospital information system, training medical staff and consulting services within the framework of the project.
