Three-time world champion Pele has died at the age of 82. Sports.ru reports, citing the daughter of the soccer legend Kelly Nascimento.
On November 29, the former Brazilian national team player was hospitalized due to deteriorating health. He was diagnosed with kidney and heart failure.
Earlier it was reported that chemotherapy, which Pele underwent as part of the treatment of colon cancer, ceased to produce results.
Pele is the only player in history to have won the World Cup three times as a player (in 1958, 1962 and 1970).
In total, he scored 77 goals in 92 games (from 1957 to 1971) for the Brazilian national team.
Pele is recognized as the best soccer player of the 20th century by the FIFA Football Commission, World Soccer and France Football, as well as the best athlete of the 20th century by the IOC.
