Power industry specialists promise no rolling blackouts in Kyrgyzstan

«There are no restrictions in the energy system of Kyrgyzstan to date. No rolling blackouts are planned,» Talaibek Baigaziev, Chairman of the Board of the National Energy Holding, said at a press conference.

According to him, power industry specialists ask consumers to turn off energy-intensive electrical appliances during peak hours (from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) The maximum load is achieved precisely because of the electric heating.

«Our neighbors in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have not a good situation this winter. Almost every day there are reports of equipment failure, lack of gas. In total, about 700 megawatts of power are being shut down. We don’t have such a situation. Emergency local blackouts are possible. But this may be due to the fact that the equipment is worn out by 70-80 percent, somewhere around 100 percent. Power engineers are trying to replace everything in a timely manner and put capacities into operation,» Talaibek Baigaziev told.
